Be sure to make some time on August 21st for the Invisible Children benefit concert, called the Invisible Children Musicfest at the Clarendon Ballroom.
Who are the invisible children? “Every night over 18,000 children leave their villages and walk miles into the nearest town to avoid being abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army and forced to become child-soldiers.”
Here is the email I received from Aimee by way of Sarah:
Dear Friends of Invisible Children,
Exciting things are happening this month in DC!
On August 21st, we will be holding INVISIBLE CHILDREN MUSICFEST, a 7 hour benefit concert featuring 4 amazing bands: John Brown’s Body, Jah Works, Kenin, and Can’t Hang. The concert will be held at the Clarendon Ballroom, and is the first Invisible Children Musicfest in America. We will use the power of music to share the story of the night-commuters and child-soldiers in Northern Uganda, raise money to help these children heal, and have a great time listening to some rockin’ music.
Already, folks in cities around the country are contacting us and asking how they can hold similar events. DC is leading the way! .
You can help by telling everyone you know about the concert, and buying your tickets NOW at http://www.invisiblechildrenmusicfest.com! Print out the attached flier and spread the word. You can check out our bands at the websites listed below. The concert is a 21+ event.
Also, McFaddens will be hosting Invisible Children Happy Hours on August 13th and 20th. $25 buys you all you can possibly drink between the hours of 7-10 pm. Come! All proceeds from this deal (but not individually bought drinks) go directly to Invisible Children. McFaddens is located at 2500 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, 2 blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro (orange and blue lines). http://www.mcfaddensdc.com.
As always, screenings are happening all over the city. Thank you for continuing to share the film with your friends and family. If you need a DVD or support materials in order to host a screening, please let me know and we will be sure to get them to you! We are fueled by your energy, creativity and kindness.
See you at the MusicFest!
All the Best,
Aimee
and the Invisible Children Team

Invisible Children is a grassroots organization that aims to keep these children safe, rehabilitate those who have escaped the horrific violence, and educate the public to the human tragedy playing out in Northern Uganda.
