According to Forbes, Larry McVoy is a heretic. Open Source development “cannot generate enough money to support the development of truly innovative software programs.” I disagree with Daniel Lyons’ take. To quote McVoy, “Open source as a business model, in isolation, is pretty much unsustainable.” The Open Source model is only good at innovation, not sustainability! After the magic of childbirth there needs to be parenting, the parent being “a financially sound company with a well-trained staff.”
