This here sissy boy needs to make an admission: I love Everwood and I get the WB.
Whenever I catch Everwood, I stick to the channel and watch. I care about the characters and love their hokey, good role model, prayerful lives. Sadly, it was the Season Finale last night. Luckily, you can catch up this summer and over the weekend.
Treat Williams is an especially amazing treat as Dr. Andrew Brown and Emily Vancamp as Amy Abbott is just lovely.
Like many of the WB shows, they’re doing something brilliant: they’re mixing sexy with sacred.
7th Heaven, Everwood, Gilmore Girls, Jack & Bobby, One Tree Hill, and Summerland all aspire to wrap sexiness in with strong moral values and personal responsibility. They’re promoting strong family values and morals but instead of making these character role models plain Janes and Johns, they’re hot, they’re smart, and they’re going to Princeton, to Yale, and to Julliard!
Not bad cultural programming at all. The WB has spent a lot of time and energy making sure you underestimate them. Don’t worry, let your kids watch the WB, it might do them good.
