The Need to Feed

nyt thumb The Need to FeedI have a need to feed. Not on brains, but the direct news feeds that most blogs and many web sites offer these day.

Since I bypass the delivery vehicle, the web page as seen though the browser, I make newspapers nervous.

What about advertisers? What about stickiness and time spent per session? If their content is compelling, I do alight, but if not, off I go for flowers more laden with the kind of pollen I prefer.

Newspapers that are offering feeds are getting huge traffic but few eyeballs while papers that refuse to offer news feeds are getting bupkiss, according to Wired.
