The Goethe-Institut Washington has the finest screening room in Washington. It is a gorgeous cinema. A perfect theater for 92 of your closest friends.
It is called the GoetheForum because the Goethe is interested in “maintaining its ‘forum’ character, i.e. as a place where artists may showcase their work without going broke.”
My college friend Jean asked me where she could screen a couple movies. Jean is a fledgeling filmmaker and so I connected her with John who reminded me that I had connected him with Craig at the Goethe.
And the Goethe, located right in Chinatown, is not only functional, but it is form with function. Convenient to the metro and a chosen venue by the Guerrilla Film Fest.
Here’s the goods from Craig himself:
“Relatively cheaply” is, of course, always relative. For one of the best venues of its type in DC, our screening room is dirt cheap at $800. For a private screening for family and friends, however, that may be a bit pricy. We call our screening room the GoetheForum and as such are also interested in maintaining its “forum” character, i.e. as a place where artists may showcase their work without going broke. As we are finding out more and more, everything is negotiable. Make me an offer and, of course, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to send them my way.
