John Hanshaw, father of the Guerrilla Film Fest, oversold his January 29th film festival. He sold almost one-thousand tickets. And so, tonight we are going to enjoy a second-showing at the Goethe-Institut’s gorgeous theatre at 812 Seventh Street, NW (7th and I St, NW). Be sure to sign up for the email list (scroll down)
I viewed the short films and particularly enjoyed all of them. Take it Back, The Climatic Death of Dark Ninja, Der Templer, Apple Jack, Natural Selection, and Meine Eltern. They were all diverse and well-produced. Der Templer was the most over-the-top, Natural Selection was surely the most likely to become a feature film, and Meine Eltern is really the best-in-show: well-acted and well played, especially by the actress who played mom who really didn’t do a very good job of hiding the fact that she is gorgeous and much more elegant and beautiful than Marie, her daughter.
I have to admit that I didn’t see the feature, Beat the Drum, as there was a very fun reception after the film that wooed me into submission.

Thanks again to everyone who came out on Saturday Jan 29th in spite of the snow! The response was way better than expected, so we are giving everyone who couldn’t get in (or make it that night) a second chance to see the program! Even if you saw the program on the 29th, come on down for the All Nite Happy Hour (6PM - close)! It will be a great crowd! If you can volunteer, we’d love to hear from you! (See details below.)
